The Apostle Paul tells the Philippians to shine as lights among the people of this world, as they hold firmly to the message that gives life.
Friends’ School Scripture Union aims to provide a context for people in School to meet and grow together, welcoming both Christians and non-Christians alike, to respectfully learn about Jesus and the values of our faith. We believe that Jesus is the key to living life to the full, and wish to share this message with others.
The weekly programme consists of the following:
Our main Scripture Union meeting is on Thursday in the Red Room from 3.30-4.30 and is for all pupils.
Junior SU (Years 8-10) is held in Mrs Semple’s room from 12.40-1.10 every Friday
Discipleship Groups are held in the RE Department every Tuesday from 1.15-1.45.
We also meet for prayer every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Break time in M5.
Everyone is welcome to any of these meetings; to learn more about God, to ask questions and to have fun and fellowship with other Christians in School. Scripture Union is organised by Mr Chestnutt and a committee of senior pupils.
Furthermore, numerous events happen throughout the year, such as the SU Residential Weekend (this year to Ballycastle), as well as planned mission events at lunch times, such as ‘Text-a-question’ and dodge ball. Speakers come from a range of backgrounds such as Crown Jesus Ministries, Christians in Sport, Youth for Christ and students who have taken a gap year to work abroad.
Scripture Union is open to all and we would love to see lots of newcomers.
Do not hesitate to make yourself known
