Recent Sporting Success for Friends' Pupils

Five Friends’ pupils recently represented Northern Ireland in the UK School Games held in Loughborough University.

Kate Gourley competed in Athletics in the 1500m event, Joshua Armstrong gained a Bronze Medal in 100m Hurdles, Rosie Henderson won a Bronze Medal in Girls Hockey, Matt Milliken competed for Boys Hockey and Rachel Barnes was also awarded a Bronze Medal for Girls Hockey.

Friends’ Year 14 pupil Curtis Dundas was recently selected to play for Ireland U18 Sevens Rugby Squad in the European Championship which took place in Bucharest.  After winning their pool matches Ireland progressed to the Quarter finals were they defeated Russia 26-12. In the Semi-finals Ireland overwhelmed Portugal 36-0. In the Final against France, Ireland outperformed their opponents in all aspects of the game. The final score of the game was 31-5 with the Ireland U18 Team being crowned European Champions 2016 which is a fantastic achievement.
