A Level and AS Results 2017
Stephen Moore, Principal of Friends’, congratulated pupils on their success at A2 and AS level and said that everyone in School was delighted with what had been attained.
Mr Moore said that the overall performance at A level had been very strong and that pupils and their parents could be justifiably proud of the high standards achieved.
A very pleasing 87% of pupils achieved at least 3 grades at A*-C at A level, and the overall number of top grades has risen once more this year, with 20% of entries at A*, over 50% of entries at A*-A, and 80% at A*-B. Nine pupils gained three or more A* grades, with Morgan Gregg, David Kearns and Olivia Novaes each awarded 4 A*s, and a total of 36 pupils achieved 3 or more grades at A*/A. Eve McCready (2 A*s and 1 A) will go up to Cambridge to read Land Management. David Elliott (1 A* and 2 As) is taking up a place at Oxford to read Modern History alongside Hannah Al-Qaryooti (1 A* and 2 As), who will be reading Law.
At AS level, the overall performance was also pleasing, with some 28 pupils gaining at least 3 A grades; of these, 11 were awarded four A grades.
Mr Moore said that behind these headline figures there were many more individual success stories, and that it would not be possible to mention them all. However, he said that he wished to pay particular tribute to those, especially in Year 14, who had overcome very difficult personal circumstances over the course of the past year in order to attain success. He added that he would like to take the opportunity to wish all of the leavers well as they move on to the next stage of their lives, and to thank staff who had worked so hard to help them achieve what they required.
