District and Ulster Athletics
Friends’ School was well represented at the recent District Athletics Championships held at Antrim Forum.
The following athletes finished in the top three at the District Athletics Championships which qualified them to compete in the Ulster Athletics Championships.
Mini
Clare Neeson 3rd in Mini Girls High Jump
Kate Annett 1st in Mini Girls 100m
Minor
Peter Brown 3rd in Minor Boys shot
Sarah Kelly 1st in Minor Girls 100m
Minor Girls Relay team - Melissa Wilson, Hannah Cochrane, Rebekah Irwin, Sarah Kelly finished 3rd.
Junior
Kurtis Gillespie 2nd in Junior Boys 200m
Sarah Kilpatrick 3rd in Junior Girls 800m
Seren Mageean 3rd in Junior Girls Long Jump
Hannah Cochrane 1st in Junior Girls 1500m and 2nd in Minor Girls 100m
Junior Girls Relay team - Imogen Erskine, Abby Tate, Seren Mageean, Aimee McConville finished 3rd.

Jack Netherton 3rd in Inter Boys 1500m Steeple chase
Kate Boomer 3rd in Inter Javelin Girls

Rachel Barnes 2nd in the Senior Girls Shot
Sarah Ferris 1st in Senior Girls 800m
Joshua Armstrong 1st in both the Senior Boys Triple Jump and 110m Hurdles
James Edgar 1st in both the Senior Boys 1500m and 5000m
A number of pupils from Friends’ School competed in the Ulster Schools’ Athletics Championships in the Antrim Forum on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th May 2017. The following four athletes finished in the top 3 and have now qualified to compete at the Irish Schools’ Championships in Tullamore on Saturday 3rd June.
James Edgar finished 1st in the Senior Boys 1500m and 5000m.
Josh Armstrong finished 1st in the Senior Boys 110m hurdles.
Sarah Ferris finished 3rd in the Senior Girls 800m.
Hannah Cochrane finished 3rd in the Junior Girls 1500m.
