All about our

School Campus

The school has been located on Prospect Hill since its foundation 250 years ago and today, pupils at Friends’ enjoy an abundance of on-site facilities set in mature, wooded grounds in the heart of the City of Lisburn.

The site has been developed over the years so that pupils can benefit from a blend of the old and the new. The oldest building is the listed Middle House, which dates from 1880 and was completely refurbished in 2015. The most recent addition is the East Suite, completed in 2016, which provides a home for our Maths and Music Departments and includes a recording studio, rehearsal space and practice rooms. Beside the East Suite is the Technology block, and a purpose-built Preparatory Department and adjoining Meeting House enjoy a prime location in the parkland at the front of school.

Friends’ enjoys excellent on-site sports facilities which are ideal for midweek training sessions and Saturday fixtures. A multi-purpose sports hall was opened in 2000 and in 2013, we laid two sand-dressed floodlit hockey pitches, a state-of-the-art facility enjoyed by our pupils and leased to South Antrim Hockey Club. Our 1st XV rugby pitch occupies a prominent spectator-friendly position on the back drive, with two further pitches at the back of the campus. In front of Middle House, we have three astroturf tennis courts.

Two projects designed for our 250th anniversary allow pupils to make the most of the wonderful outdoor spaces we enjoy. The 1774 Pavilion, a striking outdoor performance space at the front of school, and the Legacy Trail, which stretches for 1500m around the perimeter of our school grounds, provide opportunities for physical exercise and recreation.
