Friends’ School triumph at the Irish Schools’ Junior Golf Championship

 Friends’ Golf Team including Rory Brown, Brian MacAuley and Harry Scott who recently triumphed in the Irish Schools Junior Championship.

On a bright, sunny but brisk September morning, 21 School teams from North and South gathered in the beautiful
surroundings of Kirkistown Castle Golf Club to battle it out for a place in the All Ireland Schools’ Final in 2016.

Sullivan Upper led the charge early on with Patrick Greene (74), Scott Millar (70) and Thomas Stout (78) scoring a combined nett score of (144).

At the half way point RBAI tied Sullivan for the lead with David Keery (88), Aaron Marshall (71) and Rory Sloan (73) scoring well for RBAI.

The rain came in the late afternoon making conditions tough for the remaining teams but they battled through and Rory Brown from Friends’ scored an exceptional net 64 on the day showing a tremendous display of driving! As the last four ball came in Friends’ took the lead with a nett 141: Rory Brown (64) Brian MacAuley (77) and Harry Scott (81).

Friends’ remained on top of the leader-board and will now progress to the All Ireland Final in April 2016.
